I am one of those people who has many careers in one lifetime. I began as a writer and editor - actually, I began as a waitress in a G.I. bar, but we won't go into that here.
Over time, I found myself drawn away from the black-and-white of the printed page to the colors and textures of paint, fabric, beads, and bling. Now I am an author, artisan, and shoe designer who specializes in painting and embellishing shoes.
To me, shoes are simply a new kind of canvas, blank slates ready to be turned into original - and wearable - works of art. While developing this new craft of do-it-yourself shoe design, I discovered that it's unbelievably fun to do!
The women in my DIY shoe classes light up when they realize the potential of their own closets! They start using colors they'd never had the nerve to consider before. They take risks. They laugh out loud at their own audaciousness. They end up feeling in awe of their creative talents.
Doing shoes makes me feel the same way. This is why, despite my lifelong love affair with the written word, I think that color is the secret of happiness.
Please enjoy exploring the links to my many pages and sites. You just may find that books and shoes make wonderful bedfellows.
